- Focus: Introduce Wayne Thiebaud and Pop Art
- NJCCCS: 1.3, 1.4
- Objective: Students will participate in a power point presentation about Pop Art, its frame of reference, and Wayne Thiebaud. The concept for their next assignment will then be given.
- Materials: LCD projector
- Activity: Power point Presentation
- Explain the inspiration for Pop Art
- Discuss famous faces in the media. When is someone less of a person and more of an icon?
- What objects are synonymous with name brands? (Discuss how name brands came become verbs. Example: “Let me google that for you”)
- Discuss how common place products were turned into art pieces
- What objects do they use/consume daily? Example: cell phone, backpack, chicken sandwich, French fries, Vitamin Water
- Method: Presentation, Discussion
- Assessment: Participation in the discussion, participation in the activity
